Minimalism Phase 1

Image
Minimalism in photography can be defined by the phrase "less is more." It is about simplicity and using negative space to make a compelling photograph. This image really stands out to me. I think that the lines and the  colors are what makes the small leaf pop. I think the reason that this image stood out to me was  because the colors in the image are so vibrant. It's simply a picture of a lamb from below, but it's a great photograph. This image uses negative space to make the lamp stand out. This is my favorite image that I saw. I think that it truly is an example  of minimalism. I think this because it's simply a picture of a bridge, but it's in  black and white which makes the bridge stand out.

Gottfried Helnwein Response Pt 2

The new images show that the first one was not photoshopped and that it was an image of it being installed. The image is a close up of a young girl's face, which seems to have very light makeup on or white paint. I think that the size/scale of the image deepens the effect it has on the viewer. The image was spliced together on the building. It looks as if the image is located in an industrial area. I'm not quite sure who would see it in this location, maybe workers. I think Helnwein's intended audience was everyone. The image is very somber. The girl has a very melancholy look on her face. I am unsure of what the title "The Last Girl" means.
