1st Semester Reflection
The first semester of this class taught me how to do things on Photoshop that I never thought I'd be able to do. As the semester progressed, the quality of my images definitely improved. I think that the images I took improved over the semester, and I became more aware of the assignments and the subject of my images. Although I believe that the quality of my images progressed over the semester, I also think that the effort I put into the projects did the opposite. Towards the end of the semester, I still shot more than required, but I was not planning my photography as much as I could have. I did not really take any risks when it came to my project ideas. I tried to not give up when a specific shot became difficult, but I do think that at times I definitely did. In the first semester, I completed all of my work on time, but I could've put more effort in and start my projects when they were first given- I often procrastinated. In the first semester, I was always on time to class; but my participation was not a 100. Although I finished my projects, and I felt like they were done well, I wouldn't take them further than I was able to because I wanted some time to relax. I think that over the semester my work, and my identity as a photographer, definitely improved. My composition became more complex and more technical as the semester went on. I personally believe that I produced more compelling images towards the end of the semester. With more compelling images came more confidence in myself and my work. My concepts progressively got stronger, although it was tough for me. The last two projects of the semester are what helped me gain more confidence in my work. In semester two I plan to put more effort into my work. I plan to take all the time given to me to produce outstanding work.
I don't have any specific things that I would like to do with my photography. I think I would like if we just have more projects like the semester one exam. You give us something and we all have to create compelling, but different, images out of the same subject. The paper assignment challenged me and I really enjoyed doing that project, and the images that came from it.
